Happy Valentine's Day!
I have a sweet husband. He sent me flowers at work (which I really needed today...more on that later). He also made me and Ava cards. Ava's had little Valentine pics of Dora on it and mine was super cute. It had a little pic of pencils in the shape of a heart and he wrote "Will you pencil me in for dinner and a movie?" There was also a little clipart picture of a heart that looked like the hearts that he printed out (double-sided) and cut out to trail along our apt. when we got engaged. He was so thoughtful. And I LOVED it!
My day pretty much sucked though, otherwise. SORRY! I won't go on too much about it (don't want to be a Debbie Downer!), but basically I got to school today (my only full day at my second school) to find some guy in my room with the tables all moved around and all set up for something (later I find out we are having a Diversity Fair). Basically, I was never notified it was going on (our Weekly Notes simply stated "Diversity Fair" with no further details) nor was I told there would be no art, and that one of the stations would be in my room. A little annoyed I planned a full day (which I'll obviously do the next time they have art) and that this is about the 3rd or 4th time that my room has been used for something and I am never informed. At the beginning of the year the principal said that the room will probably get used for a variety of things but (and yes, I spoke to her about it...AGAIN!)...I guess I expected notification! Or that it would be used on days I'm not there. There's more to the story, but that is the gist. I asked the principal today if she could please send an email to the staff asking that if they need to use the art room on a Monday, to please notify me. No email yet. She also said to me "I will try to be more respectful of your room," the last time I asked her about it. Trying to shake it off but it is really annoying. I get that I should be happy, thankful, etc., that I HAVE a room, but I didn't realize that meant that teachers could be disrespectful of it and take advantage of the room use.
My room was not put back together AT ALL...not even attempted. REALLY?
Lastly, I just look at it like this. Are there any other teachers' rooms that people would use for whatever they wanted? Would they come in to their classroom in the morning and be told, "Oh...there is a meeting in here right now" or would people come in their classroom and move their things around. How would they feel if they came in to their desk and on SEVERAL occasions, the items on the desk are moved around or knocked over?
Well, anyway, I wish it mattered to others there, but apparently it doesn't. Doesn't make me too motivated to spend much extra time on that school.
I had class tonight, as well, but she let us out early, so that was a bonus! Hope everyone has a great week! Mine can only get better. {And there is no school next Monday!!} hehe!
